Summer Intern | Program Staff

Reports To: VP, Programs | Position Type: Seasonal, Summer 2023 | Compensation: $15/hour

By seamlessly integrating the game of golf with a life skills curriculum, First Tee — Triangle creates active learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence and resilience that kids can carry to everything they do. These character education programs are offered at golf courses, schools, and community centers throughout our service area. 

Job Description

The role of the Summer Intern is to lead in all aspects of program management and delivery. This will include golf course based programs, summer camps, Drive4Success, Outreach programming, and value-added programs, which can vary in duration from one-time events to season-long programs. Our programs take place at golf facilities, local schools, and community centers. Duties include coordinating with partners, assisting staff and volunteers, creation of lesson plans, and leading the classes utilizing the First Tee coaching methodology to help young people become responsible citizens. Time Commitment

Summer Interns will work a minimum of 36 hours per week from May – August; however, First Tee will abide by any collegiate internship requirements including, but not limited to, documentation, hour requirements, support for special projects, and evaluations. Summer Interns must be available to work daytime, evening, and/or weekend shifts. 

Responsibilities & Qualifications: 

  • Pursue First Tee Coach Training and continuing education opportunities.
  • Promote and live by First Tee’s Key Commitments Lead assigned classes and follow curriculum
  • Actively engage, assist, and mentor participants
  • Create/modify lesson plans as necessary
  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds and work in a variety of environmental conditions 
  • Promote diversity, equity and inclusion among stakeholders 
  • Maintain positive, professional, and friendly relationships with parents and participants
  • Communicate regularly with Supervisor(s) Adhere to and model established policies, procedures, and practices of First Tee – Triangle
  • Must have reliable transportation, pass a national background check, and complete safety course
